BABYLON NOIR

“The painter should not paint what he sees, but what will be seen.”

― Paul Klee

The Spring/Summer 2025 collection feels like a testament to the times we are currently navigating, times that seem to be filled with both freedom and prosperity, yet also marked by division and contradiction. In some ways, it recalls the Weimar Republic era, a period bubbling with cultural abundance and artistic expression.

At the core of the collection are striking black-and-white stripes, reimagined and redesigned in unexpected ways. Some pieces disrupt the rhythm of the stripes, transforming them into structured squares, while others distill them down to pure black elements, creating bold negative spaces. Through careful manipulation of the fabric, like folding, layering, and cutting, there is an exploration of the endless design possibilities that can emerge from a single textile. The result is a collection that feels both dynamic and deliberate, proving that reinvention often lies in the smallest shifts of perspective. These patterns are bold, unapologetic, and tell a story about the dance between light and dark, the highs and lows of our daily lives.

Called “BABYLON NOIR”, the collection seeks to further emphasize the pressing contemporary madness and the need to counterbalance it with grace, elegance, and wit.

“Lately, I have been captivated by the interplay of black and white. It feels like it mirrors the world around us, a world where things can feel so polarized, where there is no in-between, just all or nothing, fight, flight, or freeze. But unlike past collections, steeped in restlessness and longing, “BABYLON NOIR” is more a celebration of the humor and unwavering bond to each other that we all need in order to pass through these difficult times. It is an embrace of contradiction in order to find beauty and balance in the world, over and over again, and to celebrate the relationships that carry us a little bit further along the way.” — Lucia Roşca

While the collection is rooted in bold artistic expression, its foundation is also deeply practical. Fashion, at its best, is not just about aesthetics but about fulfilling real needs, both emotional and functional. The designs in “BABYLON NOIR” stem from a dialogue with those who wear them, shaped by a desire to create pieces that seamlessly integrate into daily life while still feeling special, intentional, and personal.

“This collection is especially dear to my heart because it was born from collaboration. Over the summer, I sat down with many of my cherished clients, both old and new, to weave their desires, dreams, and needs into deeply personal designs, all centered around a singular fabric, a beautiful black-and-white cotton. Together, we created pieces that don’t just dress the body but also reflect our times and our shared stories.” — Lucia Roşca

Thank you

To the exceptional team who helped me show the collection’s heart and wit, enriching it further with meaning and profound emotion. I love you.

To the wonderful individuals at Asociația HEARTH from Casa Silvia Kerim, particularly Natalia Cebanu, Artistic Director, and Doina Dogăroiu, Project Manager, for graciously offering us this evocative space. Casa Silvia Kerim, affectionately known as “Parfumeria,” was the lifelong home of the esteemed writer and journalist Silvia Kerim. This historic residence, located at Strada Parfumului 19 in Bucharest, has been a sanctuary for artistic and cultural endeavors, once hosting luminaries such as Iurie Darie, Nichita Stănescu, Ștefan Iordache, Horea Popescu, and Ion Cojar. Filmmaker Mircea Veroiu, who shared this home with Silvia Kerim for a decade, also contributed to its rich legacy. Today, under the stewardship of Asociația HEARTH, Casa Silvia Kerim continues to serve as a vibrant hub for artistic projects and cultural events. Shooting our campaign here not only provided a picturesque backdrop but also infused the collection with the spirit of creativity and cultural heritage that the house embodies.

To Dana Păpăruz, an incredibly talented and award-winning costume designer whom I befriended last year. Her generosity in sharing her knowledge and expertise during the development of this collection has been invaluable. In a short amount of time, she has become my first mentor in design, and I will forever cherish your friendship.

To Daria, Cristina, and Ana-Maria for making time to fit the collection pieces and share their input. Your patience and openness are deeply appreciated.

Lastly, to all my clients whose orders became the foundation for this collection. Cristiana, Ruxandra, Cristina, Raluca, Sabina, Anca, Andra, Marilena, Mădălina, Luiza, Adriana, Oana, Laura, Ioana, your support and trust have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life.
